Wendy has worked within the specialism of stoma care for approximately 25 years, initially as a clinical nurse specialist in Oxford, before moving to Cheltenham as Lead Nurse and currently at Coloplast Healthcare. During her 13 years with Coloplast, Wendy was initially a nurse manager, achievements including evolvement of a professional stoma care nursing service, development of service improvement strategies, RCN standards accreditation, and CQC registration and inspection. Now as Clinical Lead for ostomy, continence & bowel management, Wendy achievements include developing programmes of care, assessment and decision-making tools, Partnerships with Healthcare professionals and patient organisations and customer service team.

Wendy has a passion for education. This has been evident throughout her eight-year tenure as ASCN UK Honorary Education Officer (2011 - 2019).

An experienced and well-respected specialist nurse, Wendy has presented at many national and international conferences and study days, and acts as an expert resource to many. Wendy has written and contributed to multiple articles and editorials in nursing journals such as BJN, GIN & WCET. Wendy’s affable personality, enthusiasm and passion for the speciality of stoma care have encouraged and inspired many. This culminated in 2020 by being awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse (QN), in recognition of nurses who have demonstrated a high level of commitment to patient care and pursing practice.
